Dana Lyn Nelson-Lane

Who was Dana Lyn Nelson-Lane?

In this world there are takers and givers ... Dana was a giver.

In this world there are people who receive lessons, others seek out their lessons ... Dana was a seeker.

Some people are beautiful on the outside, while true beauty of others is found deep within ... Dana was a beautiful, truly beautiful person.

Some people fight to defend their way of life, others defend the rights of others ... Dana defended the defenseless.

Some people have to be shown the way, while others (so very few) have vision .. Dana was a visionary.

Some people measure their successes based on their accomplishments, while some ( but very few ) measure the accomplishments of others, who they have helped .... You only need to look into the faces of the people that Dana
helped to realize her great accomplishments.

Some people get their happiness from things that are manufactured...others from much simpler things...Dana was happiest with things made by nature.

Some people shelter their true feelings, others bear themselves ... Dana was absolute in her feelings.

Some people are not sure why they were placed on this earth, others were placed on this earth to help us understand ... Dana was a teacher.

Some people find it hard to say "I love you", for others it’s the only thing worth saying ... Dana was an expression of love.

Some people say, why?, others say why not ... Dana never questioned.

Some people seek strength from God, others get their strength from doing God’s work ... Dana was a very hard worker.

Some people are followers, only a very few are leaders ... Dana was our leader. Who will lead us now?

Dana was a giver ... right up until the time our daughter was taken.

Written by Dana’s father for May 18, 1996 Memorial Service

Dana and Roger Lane were married 6-1/2 months. They had plans and goals and were devoted to one another. Their partnership was filled with a passion for life that included service to others through a true love of people, nature, and music.
Dana wrote a poem for their wedding day...

Dana's Poem

What about this change?
Dramatic, yet subtle, like water to rocks, the earth,
Unplanned, unexpected
Powerfully energizing
Like a thunderstorm to our atmosphere,
Opening doors, ideas, possibilities,
Thoughts...new layers of...the mind and heart
Like an earthquake to the core of our existence...
and we join
with strength
and joy
Not knowing what is to come,
But willing and wanting to explore and learn,
Gaining wisdom along the way
