IN LOVING MEMORY OF
ROGER DAVID LANE
Jan. 14,1960----May
11, 1996
Roger grew up in a family with three older sisters who loved
seeing him grow up into such a fine person. The family has many wonderful
memories of camping trips in all 48 states and Canada. We even camped in the
Florida Everglades during Christmas,1967. He loved sports and the great
outdoors. He and his father hiked nearly 300 miles together on the Appalachian
Trail and he hiked many more with friends. His other sports include
tennis, swimming, basketball and biking. He loved music and was a bass player in
several small bands. He became a mentor to many as he was involved in Young Life
in school. His love for God's creation was very evident to all who knew him.
Roger really loved his 3 nieces and nephew and looked forward to having his own
children some day. He left behind a host of loving friends who will forever
remember him for being such a caring person.
A graduate of UNC-Chapel
Hill, he had been a sales rep. for a Pharmaceutical company for nearly 8 years.
Roger and Dana met in January,' 95 and it was clear that he had found the girl
of his dreams. After a whirlwind romance, they were married in a beautiful
outdoor ceremony at Little Switzerland, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, on October
28,1995. They honeymooned in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Dana was a sparkling
person who added so much to his life, making his house a "Home". This lovely
couple will be eternally in our minds and hearts. They were returning from
Venezuela where they planned to go and teach English as volunteers. Roger had
remarked to a friend that he had been given so much and he felt that it was time
for him to "give back".
LOVE IS ETERNAL
